Ginger: The Warming Root in Every Bottle

Ginger is probably already in your kitchen. It is in Drink Purple® for the same reasons you reach for it at home.

What ginger does

Ginger is a zesty root known for digestion, circulation and anti-inflammatory effects. It has been used in cooking and in household remedies across almost every culture that could grow it.

It is one of the ingredients where the traditional use and the everyday use are the same thing. People have always had ginger when they felt off.

Why it is in the blend

Two reasons.

The first is what it brings on its own. The second is warmth. Elderberries and raw honey on their own would be a sweet berry syrup. Ginger, cinnamon and clove give it depth and a warming finish, which is the difference between something a child tolerates and something they ask for on a cold morning.

It is also why Drink Purple works stirred into warm water or tea, not just straight from the spoon.

Is ginger too strong for children

Not at the amount used here. Drink Purple is a wholefood syrup rather than a concentrated extract, so the ginger is present as a warming spice rather than a hit.

The suggested serve is one teaspoon daily for children 1 year and over, and one tablespoon daily for adults.

In our experience, ginger is not the ingredient kids object to. Most of them cannot pick it out at all.

The warming spices in Drink Purple

Ginger works alongside two others.

  • Cinnamon. A warming spice packed with polyphenols that supports daily vitality.
  • Clove. A rich source of antioxidants that naturally supports your wellbeing.

Together they are the reason the syrup tastes like something made in a kitchen rather than something made in a factory.

What else is in the bottle

Ginger is one of nine ingredients. Have a look at what is inside Drink Purple, or read our full guide to elderberry syrup for kids.
